Oleksa Novakivskyi
Ukrainian painter (1872–1935), a central figure of Lviv modernism. Trained at the Kraków Academy; from 1913 he lived in Lviv, where he founded his own art school that taught a whole generation of Galician painters. He worked thickly and in open colour, on the border between Expressionism and Secession.Collection17
